| CITY
COUNCIL The City of Port Allen was incorporated in 1916 and operates under the Lawrason Act form of government. The Mayor is elected at large. The elected Mayor is the City's chief administrative officer and responsible for the daily activities and services of the City. The Mayor's office includes the Director of Central Services and the Director of Finance. There are five City Council members with four members elected in districts and one member elected at large. The Council writes policies, adopts ordinances and resolutions, and appoints members to boards and commissions. The Port Allen City Council meets on the second Wednesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, located at 750 North Jefferson Avenue. Committee meetings are held on first Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m.
